The Yamaha VL1 is a pressure and velocity sensitive 49 key (2 voice) Virtual Acoustic modelling synthesizer, featuring up to 2 elements, 3 effects processors, MIDI, disk drive, and 128 presets. Each element features a modelled instrument and associated controllers/modifiers. Element controllers include pressure (with preset ADSR envelope), embouchure/pitch (with IHD envelope), vibrato, tonguing, amplitude (with AADSR envelope shared with filter), scream, breath noise, growl, throat formant, dynamic filter (high, low, or band pass or band reject), harmonic enhancer (FM), damping, and absorption. Modifiers include extensive key scaling, 5 band parametric equalizer, Impulse Expander (delay), and resonator (parallel delays).
