Succeeded the Yamaha DX7 as king, but brief reign only lasted until the Korg M1 was released a year later. Four partials can be samples or subtractive (saw/square+filter) and optionally ring modulated in pairs

The Roland D-50 is a 61 key (velocity and aftertouch sensitive), 16 voice (bitimbral), digital synthesizer, featuring 2-4 oscillators (sample or resonant low pass filtered saw/square), dedicated pitch/filter/amp 5 stage envelopes, 3 LFOs (triangle, saw, square, random waveforms with delay, polarity, sync), effects (reverb, chase, chorus, 2 band EQ), card slot, 64 presets, and MIDI.
